The Water Is Completely Gone is an environmental short film, directed by Denis Budanoff as a visual essay assignment during the first semester of his studies at the New York Film Academy.
The film tells the story of a Californian couple dying of thirst in their house in the middle of a dried lake that once was full of fresh water. This reflects the ongoing freshwater crisis in California caused by active climate change in the North American region.
